In the match against Arsenal, fans started leaving Bramall Lane as early as 15 minutes into the game, and Sheffield United found themselves trailing 5-0 by halftime. Wilder criticised what he deemed as “lazy” criticism from former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, who had labeled the Blades as a “disgrace”.

Wilder expressed pride in his team’s reaction following a tough loss to Arsenal at home, as they managed to secure a commendable draw against Bournemouth. Despite giving up a two-goal lead, Wilder noted that his players responded positively after he had some frank discussions with them.

“I reminded the players of their responsibilities, why they first played football and who they’re representing. Their families, themselves, their team-mates, the club, the fans, the badge, me.

“We’ve got a quarter of the season left and I don’t want our season to be defined by an Arsenal performance or 40 minutes against Aston Villa.

“I want it to be defined by people talking about what happened at Luton and on days like today.”

United dominated the match with goals from Gustavo Hamer and Jack Robinson, but their lead was erased by strikes from two substitutes: Dango Ouattara and Enes Unal. Additionally, Dominic Solanke failed to convert a penalty for the home team after he slipped during his run up.

The Blades temporarily moved off the bottom but with Burnley picking up a point on Sunday afternoon they’re back down to 20th.
